Group ordering

Employees add their meal of choice to a shared cart for seamless checkout, with all orders arriving together.

How it works

We offer two distinct ways to let your team order together.

Managed by employees

Basic group orders

With basic group orders, any employee can start a shared cart. Team members add their meal of choice to the cart and everyone checks out as a group. Basic group orders are ideal for in-person meetings and team events.

Managed by administrators

Scheduled team orders

With scheduled team orders, account administrators manage the budget and send out restaurant choices. Employees add their meal of choice and the administrator checks out for the group, with all meals arriving individually packaged and labeled. Scheduled team orders are ideal for larger meetings, lunch programs, and employee appreciation events.

Grubhub for Business is the comprehensive dining solution that meets 100% of your employee food needs.

Fuel every moment, from daily meals to employee appreciation.

Lunch at the office

Team lunch, simplified

Group orders keep teams fueled on in-office days. Whether placing a basic group order or scheduled team order, you’ll only pay for what’s actually ordered (and eliminate food waste too).

Celebrations

Employee appreciation

Group orders are perfect for birthdays, milestones and achievements, or showing general appreciation. With a shared cart, everyone can order what they’re craving.

Frequently asked questions

Grubhub for Business offers two easy ways to order as a group, depending on the level of coordination and control you need.

1. Group orders: These orders allow any employee to start a shared cart for their team. Each participant selects their own meal from the same restaurant using the Grubhub diner app, and everyone checks out together using their individual meal credits. All orders are delivered at the same time, making this option ideal for in-person meetings or casual team lunches where individual choice matters.

2. Scheduled team orders: These offer a more structured experience managed by an account admin. The admin selects the restaurant(s), sets the budget, and invites employees to choose their meals. The admin places the final order on behalf of the team, with all food delivered together—individually packaged and labeled for each employee. This option is ideal for larger groups, recurring programs, or events that require more coordination and oversight.

Scheduled team orders allow admins to plan and manage meals in advance.

Admins select the date, delivery time, location, and budget, and then invite employees to add their own meals from approved restaurants. Orders are collected automatically and delivered together—individually packaged and labeled.

Billing is consolidated into one invoice with clear tracking and reporting, making it easy to manage budgets and program logistics while keeping employees satisfied.

A Grubhub for Business account supports scheduled orders, making it easy to plan meals in advance. Individual and group orders can be made up to seven days in advance, while catering orders can be placed up to 14 days prior to delivery.

Automated recurring orders are not currently offered to help prevent accidental purchases, but past orders can be saved as favorites for quick reordering. If recurring orders are required, our team can help manage them.

Providing meals to employees can boost satisfaction, motivation, and engagement—many organizations see this positive shift with Grubhub for Business.

With Grubhub for Business, companies can provide meals to employees wherever they are, using a range of in-office and remote solutions. For in-office teams, admins can organize catering or group orders. Both in-office and remote employees can also use their line of credit to order meals individually from local restaurants. No matter where your team is located, Grubhub makes it easy to feed all your employees in one convenient platform.
